I’m Kate Lamy and this is Fovea Centralis, a blog documenting my progression through the Biomedical Visualization program at the UIC.

  1. Hi, I love your work on this blog! I currently attend RIT’s undergraduate medical illustration program and I’m thinking of switching but I am unsure. I was wondering where you wen’t for undergraduate studies? Any advice you have in general would be appreciated!

    • Hi Rebecca! I apologize, it’s taken me so long to get back to you. I went to undergrad at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for Painting. I realized my interest in medical illustration late in the game, and I did not have the intention of studying medical illustration for most of my undergrad. This meant that I had to study biology for about 2.5 years before I could apply to graduate school. I took a look at your blog and I think you’re really talented and I hope that you stick with it. I think you will have a really great chance of getting into one of the graduate programs, if that’s something you’re interested in.
