I’m Kate Lamy — I graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2010 with a BFA in Painting. Art has been an absolute passion for most of my life, but I’ve always had a peripheral interest in biology. In my final year of undergrad, I started to think seriously about pursuing my interest in science, and found I fell in love with learning about biology and medicine. What especially interested me was the way that illustrations in biology textbooks helped to form a concrete understanding of the difficult concepts I read about. Once I came to this realization, I knew my sights were set. I decided to try and become a medical illustrator.
I am so happy to be part of this fantastic program at the UIC, and I’m beyond excited to work alongside everyone in the program. Here’s to a great couple of years!
